Obituary

It is with great sadness ISAF reports that Doctor Gerhard SCHRÖDER (GER), a former ISAF International Race Official and Committee member, has died aged 88.
Born in Augsburg on 12 August 1920, Gerhard, known as ‘Mino’ to his friends, soon developed a passion for sailing, at first in J Boats and later on in the Star and Dragon classes. He became the President of the Augsburger Segler-Club in Bavaria in 1976, a role he would go on to serve for over 20 years up until 1998. He was also a member of the Member of the Deutscher Segler-Verband board of directors from 1985-1993.

Together with his commitment to sailing at a local, regional and national level, Gerhard also made a significant contribution to the work of the International Sailing Federation. Gerhard held ISAF International Judge status from 1983-2000 and was a member of the ISAF Review Board from 1997-2000.

Gerhard died on Monday 23 March. ISAF extends our sincere sympathy and condolences to his family and friends.
