Sailing Events

The events of the sailing competition at the Youth Olympic Games are as follows:

Age Range

The sailing events at Singapore are open to 15-16 year old, so in order to be eligible to compete at the YOG, an athlete must have been born between 1 January 1994 and 31 December 1995.

Qualification Events

For each of the four sailing events, there are seven Youth Olympic Qualification Events (YOQE). The seven YOQE for each event are made up of six Continental Qualification Events and a final open qualification event. Full details on the qualification events can be found here

Key elements of the YOQE are:

  • Competitors qualify their National Olympic Committee (NOC) at a YOQE. The NOC will select its competitor for the Youth Olympic Games.
  • At the Continental Qualification Events only nations within that continent will be eligible for YOG Qualification.
  • The host nation automatically qualify one male and one female
  • For the Youth Olympic Games an NOC can qualify One (1) Boy and One (1) Girl.

 14 June 2010  Deadline for Unused IF Quota Place (UQP) applications
 15 June-14 July 2010  Reallocation of unused NOC universality places and final reallocation period for unused quota places
 15 July 2010  Entries deadline (by name) for all sports
