Safety Boat Recomendations

General Guidelines:

It is very important to ensure the safety boat is equipt and ready for use at all times whenever organised sailing events are taking place. The following items are recommended to be carried on board at all times:

  • Spare fuel
  • Anchor and warp
  • Towing lines
  • VHF radio
  • First aid kit
  • Sharp knife
  • Paddles

This list is not intended to be absolute and may be added to to take into account the type of craft used and the conditions likely to be encountered

To best aid trapped persons always ensure that you:

  • Right an inverted boat if someone is trapped underneath; it is better to right the boat than to enter the water.
  • Carry a sharp, preferrably serrated knife.
  • Stop the engine on establishing contact with someone in the water.
  • Always carry a basic first aid kit on board at all times.
  • Wear the safety lanyard at all times when under way.
