Goals

Olympic Games

  • Having participated as an athlete in two and acted as Team Leader in a further three Olympic Games, acted as member of the working group responsible for selecting the sailing venue for the Sydney Olympics, and recently, in Quingdao, worked as a commentator of the sailing events for national Polish television, I feel very well equipped to tackle issues facing future Olympic Games.
  • Olympic money is a large part of the ISAF budget. In order to secure such money in the future we must deliver as exciting and interesting an event to spectators as possible, secure the optimal selection of events representative of global sailing in the Olympics, secure the participation of the largest number of MNAs and refine competition formats making them more understandable to the viewers.
  • Following the IOC directive on reducing the scope for subjective judgment on the part of judges in all sports, starting procedures, OCS and rule 42 must be carefully scrutinized to eliminate such "human" factors.

Promotion of Sailing

  • Living in Poland, for decades I was confronted with isolation from the sailing world due to political and economic constraints, therefore, I am particularly sensitive to similar issues faced by many in today's sailing world.
  • The primary obligation of ISAF is the promotion of sailing throughout the world. Special attention should be given to MNAs with no sailing tradition and those at a competitive disadvantage in relation to countries with a more extensive sailing history and infrastructure.
