Southampton, UK

On Sunday 13 July staff from the ISAF Secretariat joined 10,000 other women to take part in the Race for Life in Southampton, UK in memory of Vice-President Nucci Novi Ceppellini.
The Race for Life is a women's only event which takes place in cities across the UK each year and raises money for Cancer Research UK. Since 1994 the Race For Life has raised over £200 million to support the charity's pioneering work to help beat cancer.

Esther Hanson, Trish Merrick, Ruth Holford, Pauline Ward, Sarah Wheeler-Osman, Luissa Smith with her daughter Isobel, Tamsin Rand and friends Tammy White and Tamsin Tuthill assembled on Southampton Common yesterday. Messages pinned to the runners' backs included many moving tributes to those who have lost their battles with cancer and celebrations of those who have beaten the disease. After an emotional tribute to absent friends the race began.

With 10,000 women waiting to start, the ISAF crew were stuck deep in the pack but after a sterling effort from everyone they all completed the 5km course around Southampton Common, through Highfield and down the Avenue. The first team member to cross the finish line was Isobel closely followed a second later by Sarah.

It was a hugely enjoyable event and the team thanks everyone who has generously donated money. It is a fantastic cause and the day has a real sense of camraderie, celebration and remembrance.
