281 sailors from 63 nations made the 2006 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship the biggest ever. The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in Great Britain played the role of hosts to perfection and as the Championship came to a close Fiona KIDD, Chairman of the ISAF Youth World Championship Sub-Committee, labelled the event as “the best ever”.

Sailors competed across seven events, with Italy winning the Volvo Trophy, awarded to the best performing nation, for the first time.
