The Trophy is awarded annually for outstanding contribution to the sport of sailing in memory of Beppe Croce, President of the ISAF from 1969 – 1986. Previous winners include His Majesty King Oval V of Norway, Paul Elvström, His Majesty Juan Carlos of Spain, Olin Stephens, Paul J Phelan, Jonathan Janson and Otto Schlenzka.

Harry Anderson has had a long and distinguished career within the ISAF. Former Vice-President from 1978 – 1986, Chairman of the Constitution Committee as well as a member of the Centreboard Boat Committee and the Review Board. Other accolades include, Honorary Chairman of the American Sail Training Association, Vice-President of the World Ship Trust as well as Executive Councillor of the United States Yacht Racing Union (now US Sailing Association).

Harry was initiated into the sport as a youngster aboard the family Herreshoff ‘S’ boat, CLOTHO. He has subsequently dedicated his life to the sport of sailing, both as a sailor and administrator. One has only to look at his achievements to understand just how much the sport means to him. Harry is one of the greatest promoters of training and development within the sport, both in the United States and worldwide. For his contributions to training and development Harry has had his name included on the Inter-Collegiate Hall of Fame.
