Belgium Yachting Association sponsored an International Judges Seminar 24-26 October 2008 at the Sportshotel Bloso at the Flanders Sports Arena in Ghent. The seminar was organized by Bruno de Wannemaeke. The instructors were Pat Healy USA and Josje Hofland NED.
Seventeen participants representing eight countries and two continents attended the three day training covering rules, procedures and juding issues then sat the IJ test.
Each evening there was a guided walking tour of the 15th century town centers of Ghent and Bruges. After the history lesson and exercises the group was lead to a local restaurant for more learning about Belgium food, beer and wine. The group was joined by Johan De Vocht, IJ and the Secretary General of the BYA. The participants were grateful for the extra hour of sleep Saturday night as Europe switched back to Summer Time.
