The overriding aim behind the project is to make it simpler for sailors to get their equipment certified and get racing. By developing a central and broad-ranging system that every class can use, and integrating this with the existing ISAF Sailor, Rankings and Results system, it should be easier for sailors to compete in events and improve the ability of ISAF, ISAF Classes and ISAF MNAs to manage their administrative functions.

As part of the development process, ISAF has created a demonstration version of the Online Certification area in the Boat Classes section on the ISAF website www.sailing.org. A number of trial forms have been posted in this area and ISAF is inviting classes and MNAs to evaluate the system using these forms and provide feedback to the ISAF Technical Department for further development of the system.
