Junko TAKANO is a Japanese national currently living in USA and working for Sony. She is a member of the Hayama Marina Yacht Club and through her membership there has been involved in the management of match racing events (including the Nippon Cup) since 1995. TAKANO has participated in a number of events on the women’s match racing tour including Calpe, Spain and Hamilton, Bermuda since 2001.

When asked about her appointment TAKANO said: “I really look forward to contributing to promote women's match racing in Asian countries. I already have a good relationship with the Japanese match racers and organizations. I would like to establish the same with other Asian countries, too. I look forward to be a part of exciting WIMRA team!”
