Chile's Matias Del Solar was the sole Chilean sailor that qualified his nation for London 2012 at the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships, and he is set for his third Olympic Games.
Del Solar finished 41st in the Laser at the 2011 ISAF Worlds to secure his spot on the start line at the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition and he is working hard to prepare, "Being selected to compete in an Olympic Games and representing my country is always an honour as the years of hard working training and competing around the world pays off."

At 36-years-old del Solar has a wealth of Laser sailing experience and finished 23rd at Athens 2004 and 26th at Beijing 2008, but London 2012 may be his Laser curtain call, "This Olympic Games may be my last ones in the Laser Class and I don't know which place I may end up but I know that if I'm at my 100% great thing can happen. My only expectation is to do my best and have fun."

The Chileans preparations for London 2012 will be centred around the ISAF Sailing World Cup with Semaine Olympique Francaise, Delta Lloyd Regatta and Skandia Sail For Gold on the agenda alongside the Laser Worlds in Boltenhagen, Germany.
