Veteran of four Olympic Games, Maxim Oberemko will take the Men's RS:X place and with three Olympics under her belt Olga Maslivets will sail in the Women's RS:X.
Oberemko came onto the Olympic Sailing scene in 1996 when he placed 25th in the Mistral. His best performance came in Beijing 2008 where he finished 12th following 14th at Sydney 2000 and 17th at Athens 2004.
Olga Maslivets has been selected to sail the Women's RS:X and will be competing in her fourth Olympic Games after finishing 23rd in the Mistral at Sydney 2000, tenth at Athens 2004 and eighth in the Women's RS:X at Beijing 2008. Maslivets finished tenth at Perth to comfortably qualify for her fourth consecutive Olympic Games.
Joining the experienced windsurfers as part of the Ukrainian team will be Finn sailor Oleksiy Borysov. The Ukrainian won gold at Sail Melbourne, the first of seven 2011-2012 ISAF Sailing World Cup Regattas before finishing 22nd in Perth to qualify for his first Olympic Games.
Ukrainian National Sailing Team leader Sergey Cherny said, "The sailors chosen for London 2012 are experienced sportsmen and women. Olga Maslivets and Maksym Oberemko took part in the last three Olympic Games and for Oleksiyt Borysov, in the Finn, it will be his first Olympic start.
"At the moment we are happy with our achievements but we hope for more representation of our country at the Olympic regatta.
"After the ISAF Worlds our sailors started their training camp in Spain. The RS:X sailors are busy preparing for the Europeans and then the Worlds.
"Our team will then take part in all of the European World Cup regattas."
