The European Sailing Federation (EUROSAF) announce their combined classes, youth sailing European Championship, which will be held in Aarhus, Denmark, from 4-10 August, 2012.
EUROSAF, in partnership with Sailing Aarhus and the Danish Sailing Federation, has published the Notice of Race for the EUROSAF Youth Sailing, European Championship. This event is the first of what is to become an annual championship, always held during the first full week of August.
The equipment to be used will be the same as that used for the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship, with each country permitted to enter two crews in each of the participating classes. The upper age limit will be the same as that for the World Championship, that is under 19 on 31 December in the year of the championship. Equipment is not provided, but there will be a limited number of boats available for charter. Competitors, however, are encouraged to bring their own equipment.
The disciplines and classes will be:
Boys Single-handed - Laser Radial
Girls single-handed - Laser Radial
Boys Double-handed - International 420
Girls Double-handed - International 420
Boys Sailboard - RS:X
Girls Sailboard - RS:X
Open Skiff - 29er
Open Multihull - Sirena SL16 and Hobie 16 with Spinnaker
Entries will be through the national sailing authorities in Europe, all of whom are invited and encouraged to send teams.
The venue to be used in Aarhus is the same as that used for the 2008 Youth World Championship, with the added advantage of the improvements to the facilities made during the interim period. All the on and off-water facilities in Aarhus have been thoroughly tested in recent years where they have regularly hosted world and continental championships, including the A-Class Cats and International 5o5 World Championships.
