Los Angeles To Honolulu Record Ratified

WSSRC News

The World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC) has ratified the Los Angeles to Honolulu record set by Geronimo.
In newsletter 104 the Secretary to the WSSRC, John REED announced the ratification of the following record:

Record: Los Angeles to Honolulu, 2,215 nm.
Yacht: Geronimo
Skipper: Olivier DE KERSAUSON (FRA)
Dates: 13-18 November 2005.
Start time: 19:05:03 UTC on Sunday 13 November 2005
Finish time: 14:36:40 UTC on Friday 18 November 2005
Elapsed time: 4 days, 19 hours, 31 minutes and 37 seconds
Average speed: 19.17 knots

The previous record by Bruno PEYRON (FRA), established in July 1997, was set during the Transpac Race of that year. His time of 5 days, 9 hours, 18 minutes and 26 seconds therefore remains as the Transpac race multihull record.
