Among the German sailors there will be teams from Denmark, Great Britain, Croatia, Austria, Poland and Sweden. The entry list promises a high level competition with eight of the twelve competitors in the top 50 of the ISAF World Match Race Rankings. The highest ranked skipper is Malin KÄLLSTRÖM (SWE), the world number twelve, who recently won the ISAF Grade 1 Ladies Match Cup on German waters. She is followed by sailors such as Silke HAHLBROCK from Hamburg at 15 in the Rankings, Britain’s Josie GIBSON at 18, runner up in the German nationals Ulrike FIRK at 26 and Denmark’s Camilla ULRIKKEHOLM at 32.

For some of the teams in Germany, the regatta is more than just about victory on the day. ‘We actually just wanted to learn and use the match racing rules for our Yngling training,’ said 32 year old Ulrike SCHUEMANN from Berlin, Germany. ’We now see the results of our match race training. Our teamwork is great and we really enjoy fighting on the water. We are looking forward to the European competition at the Ladies Only.’

The crews will sail with three to four sailors on fast and flexible boats called Streamline. Check in, first training and weight in will be on Thursday 3 November, with the start of racing on the following day. Three days of sailing will finally end in the great final on Sunday afternoon 6 November.
