The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia will host the launch of this year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race on Tuesday 8 November 2005. A panel of participating yacht skippers and other talent associated with the 61st Rolex Sydney Hobart will be present at the launch.
More than 50 applications to enter this year’s race have been received so far, with a late rush of entries expected before the deadline of 1700 hours on Friday 4 November. Applications to date include boats representing Britain, Sweden, New Zealand and from all around Australia.
The launch will take place at 1030 hours local time at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in Sydney. Currently confirmed for the launch are CYCA Commodore Geoff LAVIS, boat designer and five time winner overall Trygve HALVORSEN and Alfa Romeo skipper Neville CRICHTON.
