Election Of The Host City For 2012 Olympic Games

On 6 July in Singapore, IOC members will elect the host city for the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012.
The five candidate cities for the 2012 Olympic Games are Paris, France; New York, USA; Moscow, Russia; London, Great Britain and; Madrid, Spain. The sailing events for an Olympic Games hosted by Paris, London or Madrid would be held at La Rochelle, Weymouth or Palma de Mallorca respectively.

The opening of the 117th IOC Session will take place tomorrow at 0830 hours local time (UTC+8). The vote will take place in the framework of the 117th IOC Session, according to the following programme:

Presentation of the Candidate Cities

The session on 6 July will begin directly with the Candidate Cities’ presentations, in the following order:

  • 0900 Paris
  • 1030 New York
  • 1200 Moscow
  • 1430 London
  • 1600 Madrid

Report by the Evaluation Commission

At 1715, IOC Evaluation Commission Chairwoman Nawal EL MOUTAWAKEL (MAR) will present the Commission’s report, which will be followed by the IOC members’ vote.

Announcement of the result

The announcement ceremony will start at 1930 (1130 UTC). The result will be announced thereafter by the IOC President, Jacques ROGGE (BEL).
