Disabled Sailing News
Portsmouth, R.I. USA

US SAILING have announced the members of the 2005 US Disabled Sailing Team. Twelve sailors have been selected for their performances in the two Paralympic events.
The Team includes 2004 Paralympic silver medallists JP CREIGNOU and Brad JOHNSON, this year racing in different teams, as well as 2000 Paralympians  Jim LEATHERMAN and Keith BURHANS.  In 2004 the USA secured another silver medal in the Open Single-Handed Keelboat and in 2000, a bronze medal, both times thanks to Thomas BROWN. This year Nick SCANDONE, Roger CLEWORTH and Tom FRANKLIN make up the team in this event.

Created in 1998 to develop and prepare the Team representing the USA at the Paralympic Games, the US Disabled Sailing Team annually recognizes the top three competitors in the two events selected for the Paralympic Games: the Open Single-Handed Keelboat using the 2.4 Metre and the Open 3 Person Keelboat in the Sonar.

The 2005 US Disabled Sailing Team is coached by five-time USA Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year and 2003 Yngling World Champion, Betsy ALISON (USA). Sponsors of the 2005 US Disabled Sailing Team are Extrasport, Gill, Harken, Nautica, New England Ropes, Rolex Watch U.S.A., Sperry Top-Sider, Team McLube, Vanguard Sailboats, Vineyard Vines, and Zodiac of North America.
